BREAKING NEWS: Manny Pacquiao resigns as Senator

MANILA, Philippines – The Filipino ring icon and senator Honorable Manny Pacquiao says he has resigned from his post as a senator of the District of Sarangani, The Philippines to concentrate on his boxing career.

In a letter handed to the Philippine House of Representatives, Pacquiao stated that he had missed several bouts and training because of his position as a senator. He also added that, there are other personal reasons that he deemed it not fit to put in the public.

Manny Pacquiao ascended to the position of Honorable senator in June 2016.

Pacquiao, who would depart to Los Angeles this week to hold his final leg of training camp at Roach’s famed Wild Card Boxing Gym is no more a Filipino senator.

Manny Pacquiao will on November 5 face WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas who has described him as “worried”.

In a recent promotional video by Top Rank, a confident Vargas is shown getting a haircut at a barbershop in Las Vegas while talking about the biggest fight of his career.

“I know he [Pacquiao]’s intimidated. I know that he’s asking himself, ‘Is this it for me?’” the boxer said.
